Visayan Electric distributes packed meals in line with its 118th Anniversary and in participation of Random Act of Kindness Day
A century and eighteen years - that’s how long Visayan Electric has been of service to the Cebuano Community. Coming from humble beginnings, the power distribution firm came to be one of the most essential service providers in the province, serving the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, Naga, and four municipalities of the greater part of Metro Cebu - Liloan, Consolacion, Minglanilla and San Fernando.
To celebrate this year’s anniversary and in solidarity of the Random Act of Kindness Day, a team from Visayan Electric wandered the streets of its franchise areas and gave out food packs to random people in the early mornings of February 17, and February 20 - 23. For five days, almost 600 individually-packed meals were distributed to construction workers, security guards, traffic enforcers, street sweepers, PUJ and food delivery drivers, and garbage collectors along the busy streets of Talisay City, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Consolacion, and Liloan.
“For our anniversary this year, which falls on the 25th of February, we wanted to do something different. Instead of opting for a company-wide celebration, we went beyond the four walls of our offices to spread kindness and positivity to the Cebuano Community,” said Engr. Raul C. Lucero, Visayan Electric President and COO.
Visayan Electric is not new to the idea of giving back to the community, if fact, in its many years of service, the company has conducted several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities that were benefited by thousands of Cebuanos such as the School Rewiring Programs, Brigada Eskwela, Scholarship Grants, Coastal Cleanups, Mangrove planting, and so much more.
“These community programs created by Visayan Electric are the company’s way of supporting local community and environmental causes, and we will make sure that these programs will continue and be sustained for generations to come,” the executive added.
