Spreading Pawsitivity: Visayan Electric sponsors low-cost spay and neuter

The past few years have seen an increase in pet ownership by individuals and families alike. This is evident among the different pet events and activities organized in many places across the country. Despite this, many animals are still left uncared for, neglected, and unspayed since pet ownership is expensive. This is alarming as this situation can lead to many problems that affect not only animals but humans, as well.

To help ease the burden of pet owners, Visayan Electric Kaibigan Batch 2, in partnership with Cats & Dogs Matter, a private organization in Cebu, and VECO Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (VEMCO), conducted the Spreading Pawsitivity Project. This project aims to offer an affordable solution for pet owners to spay and neuter their cats and dogs.

This low-cost initiative addresses multiple interconnected issues: enhancing road safety by reducing the number of stray animals, mitigating animal abandonment, curbing overpopulation, and improving adoption rates.

During the activity held in Talisay City, Visayan Electric donated medical supplies used during the operation, and food supplies for rescued animals.

By tackling these challenges, Visayan Electric contributes to creating a safer and more compassionate community for both animals and humans.
