For every gift opened during Christmas, there is a child somewhere who can only dream of receiving one. This unfortunate reality is experienced by many Cebuano children, especially those from low-income households, during the holiday season. To help make a difference, Visayan Electric has made it a tradition to spread joy to these children through its annual Pasko sa Kabataan program.
Pasko sa Kabataan is Visayan Electric’s yearly Christmas celebration dedicated to less-privileged children in Cebu. The program aims to bring happiness and the festive spirit of the holidays to children who, because of financial challenges, cannot experience the season as others do.
This year, in partnership with the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, 50 volunteers from Visayan Electric spent their weekend bringing early Christmas cheer to the children of Sitio Kangmaya and Sitio Kambayog in Barangay Busay, Cebu City.
More than 50 children were treated to a joyous Christmas party at the Betania Retreat House in Nivel Hills. The celebration was packed with fun activities and games enjoyed by both the children and the volunteers. The event concluded with the distribution of gifts, led by Visayan Electric President and COO Raul Lucero.
Rev. Father Joseph de Aquino, Priest-in-Charge of St. Therese Parish Caritas, graced the event and shared his heartfelt gratitude to Visayan Electric. In his speech, he commended the company for its commitment to creating memorable Christmas experiences and supporting their mission to uplift the lives of underprivileged children.
Programs like these underscore Visayan Electric’s commitment to uplifting the lives of the Cebuano community, especially children. Visayan Electric acknowledges that creating a kind and loving environment for children creates the foundation of a bright future for them.
