Hayag nga kaugmaon para sa batang Mandauehanon: Visayan Electric illuminates Mandaue City Science High School

Inadequate lighting around the campus has been an issue experienced by the students and teachers of Mandaue City Science High School for many years. Dark lobbies and dimly lit hallways envelop the campus, especially after the sun sets. This issue poses a potential risk especially to those who have night classes, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. Due to the lack of funds, this problem has been left unsolved due to more pressing issues that need to be addressed first by the school.

Understanding the enduring challenges faced by students and teachers at Mandaue City Science High School, the Visayan Electric Kaibigan Batch 9 initiated the "Hayag nga Kaugmaon para sa Batang Mandauehanon" Project. This project aims to reduce the potential risks caused by poor and inadequate lighting.

In collaboration with the VECO Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (VEMCO), eight solar lamps and 42 LED bulbs were turned over to the school. The group also donated a heavy-duty printer to the Student Supreme Government (SSG) Office of the school.

School principal Dr. Leslie Joy Paña expressed her sincere gratitude to Visayan Electric for creating an initiative to help their school.

“Your generous donations have significantly improved the campus’s lighting, enhancing safety and creating a more conducive environment for students and teachers,” she said.

This activity underscores Visayan Electric’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education in Cebu. Other activities of Visayan Electric that target the education sector include Brigada Eskwela and the Schools Rewiring Project.
