Pagpanahi, Kalambuan sa Kinabuhi: Visayan Electric volunteers together with the Paglaum Association members and Brgy Sta. Cruz LGU during the turnover of sewing machines and materials.
Mothers are often regarded as our ilaw ng tahanan. Without them, our lives would be dark and empty. They are among the most hardworking people, tirelessly caring for the family while ensuring that everyone's needs are met.
In Brgy Sta. Cruz, in the Municipality of Liloan, women, mostly stay-at-home mothers, are given opportunities to make a living through their livelihood programs. One of such programs is the Brgy. Sta. Cruz - Paglaum Association. Through this association, members are taught dressmaking and then later on become part of their dressmaking business wherein they make various types of clothes that they either sell or made to order.
With their growing membership, equipment and materials are running low, thus, in celebration of this month’s Mother’s Day, Visayan Electric, through the collaboration of the Kaibigan Batch 1 and VECO Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (VEMCO), has created the Pagpanahi: Kalambuan sa Kinabuhi project.

This project aims to provide the association with equipment and materials that they can use for their livelihood program. Last May 25, five units of electric sewing machines, along with other materials, were turned over to the association.
Brgy. Sta. Cruz Captain Richard Pendo, who was present during the event, thanked Visayan Electric for their initiative.
“Dako kaayo akong pasalamat sa Visayan Electric kay kini, dili lang ni gamay nga tabang, kung dili dako kaayo. Salamat kaayo ninyong tanan,” he said.
Anji Talisic, President of the Paglaum Association, also extended her gratitude to Visayan Electric for providing them with the much needed equipment and materials.
Projects like these underscore Visayan Electric’s commitment to fostering prosperity in Cebu's communities. Recently, Visayan Electric also answered the call for assistance from the flower farmers in Brgy. Busay, Cebu City, further demonstrating their dedication to community support and development.
