What is Power Quality?

From the Philippine Distribution Code, Power Quality is defined as the quality of the voltage, including its frequency and the resulting current that are measured in the distribution system during normal conditions. Power Quality describes the characteristics of power fluctuations, such as momentary interruptions, voltage sags or swells, flickering lights, transients, harmonic distortion and electrical noise. These variations can cause equipment or appliances to work improperly. Computers and the hi-tech industry are the most sensitive to fluctuations in power quality.
